I made my first communion some 16 or 17 years ago now – wow doesnt time fly?
what i remember most about the day was the hymn we sung and though i only remember bits of it i have been searching for the rest of the lyrics ever since – if only so i can finally solve my curiosity… it was a very lovely hymn and i remember feeling overwhelmed with emotions and pride on the day singing it with my class mates. If there is anyone out there who recognises the lyrics and can tell me what the hymn is called or supply the rest of the lyrics i would be so gratefull!
here’s the only part i remember – i think it must be either the end of a verse or maybe chorus:
thank you, thank you, thank you jesus, all i think or do or say, all my life may i remember, this my first communion day

I sang the same hymn at my First Holy Communion (more than 40 years ago!) and it’s called My First Communion Day. Has ‘welcome, welcome, welcome Jesus, in my soul forever stay ..’ then I don’t remember the rest. Can’t find the music or the lyrics on youtube or any other site so far …. good luck with your search. If you find out more will you let me know? I want to use it for my daughter’s First Holy Communion in June this year.
